Weijie Su is an Associate Professor in the Wharton Statistics and Data Science Department and, by courtesy, in Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania. He co-directs the Penn Research in Machine Learning (PRiML) Center. He earned his PhD in Statistics from Stanford (2016) and bachelor's in Mathematics from Peking University (2011). His research spans statistical foundations of generative AI, privacy-preserving data analysis, high-dimensional statistics, and optimization. Su serves as associate editor for journals including JMLR, JASA, and Operations Research. His work has received the Stanford Anderson Dissertation Award, NSF CAREER Award, Sloan Research Fellowship, IMS Peter Hall Prize, SIAM Early Career Prize in Data Science, ASA Noether Early Career Award, and ICBS Frontiers of Science Award in Mathematics. He is an IMS Fellow.
